CURTIS CAMPBELL, STAR Writer
Reggae/dancehall artiste Deep Jahi, is closing 2012 on a high note, after a very productive year in the music industry. Arguably one of the music industry's freshman of the year, Deep Jahi currently holds the number one spot on Zip 103 music chart for his single Life Goes On. He is also expected to release his debut reggae album next year. According to the artiste, since signing with Serani and Julian Jones Griffiths-led Rock Stone media, he has covered boundaries musically. "Since signing with Rock Stone Media, boundaries have been exceeded and the future is looking promising. I want to big up all the radio DJs for the support. I know it's hard as a young artist to get airplay but Sunshine, DJ Wayne, Smurf, Chrome, Liquid, Troy McLean, Garfield Hamilton and so many more have shown my music crazy love and I'm very appreciative of that." Deep Jahi said. The single Life Goes On, has been at the top of ZIP FM's Zip Code charts for several weeks and is currently climbing the Fiwi Choice charts, presently at number eight. Deep Jahi disclosed that he is still promoting new music, including a single called Give Me Another Try, released on JA Productions Overtime rhythm. A video for the song has been shot and is expected to be released for the festive season. "2013 there will be more great songs and influential music which will impact positively in society and the impressionable youth of today and tomorrow. I also have a song called 14 Parishes that people should definitely give a listening ear," he said. As it relates to his upcoming album, Deep Jahi says he is yet to come up with a title. However he is looking to broaden his audience and fan base with the final product. "Mi nuh come up with a name yet. But yu done know Deep Jahi is a versatile artiste and the fans want a deeper side of the music, so that's why mi sey reggae. As well as I want to inspire the youth. Mi is a youth wey guh college so I want to do music to edify people and also to spread to a wider audience like Europe, and those places are really drawn to reggae music," Deep Jahi said. Deep Jahi has been confirmed for Sting at Jamworld on Boxing Day. He is also booked to appear at the much talked about Galiday Bounce. Follow him on Twitter @DeepJahi. |
