Man tells court ... 'Gunmen told me to take house'

Charged after allegedly moving put complainant's furniture

A man who has been accused of living at another man's house without any permission was granted $70,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

He is Jhaneil Guy who has been charged with assault at common law, housebreaking and larceny.

As a condition of Guy's bail, he is to report to the Waterford police station on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between the hours of 6 a.m., and 6 p.m.

Guy was also ordered to stay away from the complainant and return to court on January 17.

Allegations are that the complainant was in police custody from May of this year and when released in October found the accused in his home.

The court heard that Guy told the complainant that gunmen had given him permission to stay at his home.

It is alleged that the accused also asked for time to exit the complainant's home, however it's reported that upon the return of the complainant for his place, the accused attacked him with a weapon.

The court also heard that the complainant's furniture was removed from his home.

The matter was reported to the police and Guy was arrested and charged.
