André Williams, STAR Writer
Today, we continue with our buzz-worthy feature, Paternity Puzzle. The feature will continue to attempt to help families solve paternity disputes. One more lucky couple will get a free test and reveal the truth once and for all. This and every Wednesday, we will publish the story of a mother and an alleged father, who will both give their sides in tales of allegations and denials. Be sure to follow the series as THE STAR awards a free DNA test sponsored by Caribbean Genetics to the most interesting story for the month. Recently, 28-year-old police officer Craig Jonesescorted the mother of his first child, 21-year-old Michelle Brown, to our office, for THE STAR paternity feature, laying it all on the table in a bid to uncover if her second child belongs to him. The two met at a football match in 2008 and later on things got heated between them, and their relationship produced a child that they agree is unquestionable. Soon afterwards, things got cold as Jones was already in another relationship, which also produced a child. Brown, who is self-employed, told THE STAR that she and Jones had split and were only having sex occasionally, until pregnancy came into play again, which she did not inform him of until she was actually in her fifth month. Both were seemingly eager to tell THE STAR what transpired along their apparently on-and-off journey; According to Jones; "After the first child, we nuh deh again but once in a blue moon, we do we ting. She told me that she went to the doctor and got a family control in place." He said: We nuh have sex since our first child together. We did a thing in December but she claim that it was in January of this year. She said: One day in January, mi deh home and him call mi and ask if him can get some sex. At first, I said no, and then him start beg, so mi say come, I am home. He said: She claim say a January but mi still nuh tink so, I left and mi never see her again until one day I went by the house to look for my daughter. That was when I noticed a belly but I wasn't sure, so mi say to her, 'yuh man breed yuh again'. He said: She confessed then that she was six months pregnant. He, however, questioned her claim because she had told him that she got a family planning injection from her doctor. He said: She tell mi say the baby fi born August fourth, baby nuh born, then she tell mi September fourth, baby nuh born. She tell mi September 27, baby nuh born. A October10 the baby born. She said: Mi tell him the baby a go born August fourth initially because he was acting up and tell mi him a go kill himself and a bag a tings. So, because mi know him born August, and him glad fi anything August, so mi just tell him August. "I also lied and tell him that I was six months when I was five months because when he heard I was pregnant with his first child, him tell mi fi go do an abortion and mi nuh ina dem ting deh," she further said. He said: I only told her to abort the first child because I was with someone else and never want it mash up! Jones told THE STAR that there was no need to mention abortion this time around because that relationship was over. Brown told THE STAR that she is 100 per cent sure she was not having sex with another man since giving birth to Jones's first child. He said: Bwoy, mi nuh sure bout that cause we nuh deh, and mi know Michelle love her sex. She said: Well, mi never sleep with nobody else, I went and bought my big dildo, and him come a mi yard and see it! Jones and Brown both expressed that their respective communities are not aware of their problem as they are trying their best to refrain from going public with their business. The interesting question of who does the child resemble was popped and they disagreed somewhat. Brown said: If is anybody she look like she slightly resembles my dead brother! Jones said: She has her own look, she nuh look like nobody for me. As a matter of fact, one day mi have the baby and mi see that one of the baby eye cast and nobody ina my family nuh have cast eye. Brown said: When mi pregnant me did cross a fence (go over a fence), and a dat is why. But then again her eye dem nuh cast! *Names changed
