12 To 12 a treat

12 to 12 Beach Party , held at Fort Clarence Beach, Portmore, on Sunday night, November 25, 2012. - Winston Sill

Scantily clad women, a variety of delicious food and mixed drinks flowing all night, were just some of the attractions advertised for 12 To 12 held at the Fort Clarence Beach in Portmore on Sunday night.

The all-inclusive beach party, dubbed 'The Jamaica 50 Edition', had bars strategically placed inside the venue, and bartenders were kept busy all night. The food was less accessible as patrons stood in long lines before they could finally be served.

That aside, DJ Smurf amped up the crowd with his musical selections. Songs such as Big Meech by Rick Ross and Gangnam Style by Psy had patrons in a frenzy.

The dancehall section was up next, and females flocked to the centre of the venue to put on a show. Bike Back by Kartel, Wine by Cham and Dash Out by Tifa, were just some of the selections that had the females in a frenzy. Positioning themselves to prove that they could outdance each other was just the beginning of the antics.

full party mode

With the crowd now in full party mode, it was time for Jamrock Sound to showcase their talents. A lacklustre introduction created a lull in the party and patrons immediately began complaining among themselves.

After starting off with Natural Mystic by Bob Marley, their ill-timed segment gradually picked up with songs like Duffle Bag Boy by Playaz Circle and Snap Yo Fingers by Lil Jon.

Moving into their dancehall segment, patrons finally began warming up to the sound, and songs such as Siddung by Darrio and Konshens, Pon the Edge by Busy Signal and Box of Money by Mavado were well received.

It was, however, Bass Odyssey that ignited 12 to 12.

Patrons were kept in a high-energy mood throughout their set as the musical selections changed in genre.

Kicking off with a bevy of Buju Banton songs, including Destiny, Not an Easy Road and Our Father in Zion, Bass Odyssey could do no wrong.

Although intermittent drizzling attempted to derail the party, the majority of the patrons stayed behind and were not disappointed.

Patrons left the venue in seemingly high spirits after another successful 12 To 12 event.
