Star Tell Me Pastor

Uncomfortable in my church
p>Dear Pastor,

I have been an Apostolic for the last 16 years and, to tell you the truth, I am very uncomfortable among my bishop and brethren. I am thinking to choose another faith. I lost my husband a few months ago and my bishop never one day gave me $500. He never even tried to find out if I ate.

Our church has 100 members and no one has ever given me a mint. It is a good thing I had a little savings because I am not working. I paid my offering in church when my husband was alive as he was the sole breadwinner. My bishop didn't come to pray for me during my time of bereavement.

My bishop and his wife take plane like taxi, and they never brought a bath soap and tissue to my house. I am a regular attendant at church and my lifestyle can speak for me that I am in good standing wherever I go.

I don't want to rob God,

What caused me to write this letter is that I got a letter from my church, stating some items I should purchase for convention. I was so upset because of how they treated me. I shouldn't go back, but I love Jesus. I am now in a position where I can start paying my tithes again.

Pastor, I don't want to rob God, but this man was not nice to me when I needed him. I prefer to go to another church than to give him my tithes.

Apostolic preaches that a person must be baptised in Jesus' name and receive the Holy Spirit or you are not going to heaven. But is that enough to make it in?

M.

Dear M.,

You have issues with the church you attend and its bishop. You seem to believe that the bishop is a wicked man for not giving you financial help.

Your attitude towards your bishop is wrong. The bishop's money is not your money. He does whatever he feels with the money he earns.

The tithes and offerings don't belong to the bishop. Tithes are given in obedience to God's command. God said if Christians do not give His work, they are robbing Him. Please read Malachi 3:8-11.

I suggest that you go to see your bishop and discuss your concerns, etc.

Pastor
