Dancehall enigma L.A Lewis is celebrating his recognition on international online dictionary Wikipedia encyclopaedia. According to the controversial personality, he is not an ordinary person.

"Wikipedia only get yu name if you are a famous person, for good or for bad, so I feel good about the recognition. Dem recognise me for my promotional genius, my graffiti and my collabs with international artistes. L.A Lewis is like the wind. I am an enigma and the first of my kind," he said.

L.A Lewis said his recognition by Wikipedia was a rare accomplishment in dancehall.

"Not a lot of artistes are recognised by Wikipedia and I stand out because no other artiste is like me. No other artiste has held the queen's hand. I am not normal. I am the only artiste who is also a conceptual artiste," he said.

New song

L.A Lewis recently started his Gaza Federation label and said he is moving to sign new artistes. He is also gearing up to release a new song, Christmas Bad Man.

The WEEKEND STAR searched Wikipedia for popular names in dancehall to unearth more recording artistes who were recognised on the site.

Names such as Tommy Lee Sparta, Richie Loop, Potential Kidd, RDX and Pamputae returned no results.

Other artistes recognised include Damian Marley, Bounty Killer, Konshens, Mr Vegas and Beenie Man.

Information can be edited on Wikipedia by just about anybody, the welcome note on the site posits.

"Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia that anyone can edit."

Its description of L.A Lewis reads, "is a Jamaican deejay who is better known for his publicity stunts than for his musical output. He also uses the alias 'The Seven Star General' and other nicknames. He has become somewhat of an international celebrity for his tireless self-promotion, including graffiti, website, clothing line, musical , and other publicity stunts. L.A. Lewis is allegedly responsible for his own name appearing many times in white graffiti throughout Jamaica, although he has claimed it was his fans. This method of promotion got him in legal trouble when he was arrested in September, 2011 for "recruiting persons to spray-paint political graffiti on walls in the West Kingston constituency in which he is trying to become a candidate for the People's National Party."
