Lawmen held for soliciting money

Three cops, a corporal and two constables from the Trelawny Division, were yesterday charged by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) after they were pointed out during an identification parade held on the weekend.

Reports from the ACB are that the three allegedly solicited a sum of money from a member of the public after telling him that he was wanted by the police.

A portion of the money was reportedly paid over to the cops, after which, the ACB was contacted and an investigation launched.

They were subsequently arrested and charged. All three are to appear before the Falmouth Resident Magistrate's Court later this week.
