Marisa and Marisha Wilson, 12-year-old twins from White Water Meadows in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, are true friends.

In a recent interview with The StarLife and Times, both girls who attend St Catherine High School in the parish, affirmed their commitment to each other.

"We are very close, she is my best friend," said Marisa the firstborn. This statement was soon put in perspective by her sister Marisha, who is said to be the more talkative of the two.

"I would not say we are best friends. I would say that we are true friends. Our best friend is Kayonna Groves," Marisha corrected. She then turned towards her sister who nodded in agreement.

Mimicking illness

It is often speculated that twins sometimes come down with illnesses simultaneously, and that they tend to share each other's pain. However, Marisha pointed out that where they are concerned there is a slight difference to this phenomenon.

"I don't necessarily feel her pain during sickness, but when she gets better I start to get the same illness," she noted.

There are several other things however that these two have in common. For instance, both like social studies and are fond of cats and dogs. They also love music, adore the colour pink, and are members of the key and peer educators clubs at their school.

These two television-watching, fun-loving individuals also put aside time for serious school work. This is normally on weekdays and during weekends.

Marisa would like to become a medical doctor in the future, while her sister has her sights set on being a bank manager.

Household chores

Both girls, as is the norm, assist their mother, Veronica Wilson with household duties. These include washing the dishes, tidying the house and washing clothes. It was revealed during the interview that most of the housework was done by Marisha. Her sister on the other hand is the one who sometimes had to be coerced to work around the house. She is also the one who is reported to have a boundless appetite for food.

The other members of their household include one sister and four brothers.

It was observed that both girls became pensive when they were asked to give their views on Jamaica and the outlook for the future. They expressed their disgust at the criminality now rampant in the nation especially the raping and killing of young girls. They also expressed the wish for these dastardly acts to cease.
