Guards still not yet charged |

Charges are yet to be laid against the two security guards who have been implicated in the beating of a University of Technology (UTech) student last week. The guards, who have been in police custody since Saturday, were yesterday pointed out in an identification parade. However, investigators say it is too early to say what offences they are likely to be charged with. The guards, who have been fired by security company Marksman Limited, were arrested after they were seen on video beating the student. Last Thursday, the male student was set upon by a mob which alleged he was found in a compromising position with another male student. It is reported that the male student ran and sought refuge in one of the guard rooms on the campus as the mob descended upon him. Further reports are that it was while the male student was in the security post that he was beaten.
