Woman to be sentenced for assault

A woman who used a stone and scissors to inflict injuries on another female will be sentenced on November 23.

Shanieka Stewart, of a Corporate Area address, is charged with unlawful wounding. Her bail was extended when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday. She was also ordered to give her fingerprints to the police.

Dispute

The court was told that, on the day of the incident, Stewart and the complainant were involved in a dispute when the complainant took an iron chair and hit Stewart. Stewart then allegedly took a pair of scissors and cut the woman in her face. A stone was also thrown at the face of the complainant, causing injury.

The complainant is expected to present Stewart with a medical certificate detailing the cost of medical expenses when both parties return to court later this month.
