Ishawna gets Downsound boost

With the Downsound Records team now working with her, singer Ishawna said her career has seen a boost.

Since the start of the year, Ishawna said she has released Hold Him, Hot Gal Anthem, Real Hot Gal and I Can Love You.

However, it wasn't until her recent collaboration with dancehall artiste Specialist on Do For Love that she started to get some buzz.

So far, she said the song has been getting quite a bit of airplay and is on dancehall charts.

"Do For Love came out and blew everything through the roof. Everybody is loving it all over the world. It is just really a blessing to close off the year. Right now it's just a good look for Ishawna," she told The weekend STAR.

Ishawna also explained that her relationship with Downsound Records has also been contributing to her success.

"It has a lot to do with Downsound. I have been releasing singles all along, but when you have a team it makes everything different. They are there to help you. It's a teamwork kind of vibe and it makes a huge difference," she said.

"With Do For Love, people just love it naturally. It's on all the charts. We don't have to force people to like it. Everything is just happening naturally."

In addition, Ishawna said she will be shooting the music video for a new song, Murderer. She will also be releasing a dancehall song, Teeny Tiny.

Later this month she will be doing the 'Girls On Top' tour in England with Lady Saw.
