Robert Bailey, STAR Writer
Coaches Ludlow Bernard of Wolmer's Boys and Kingston College's (KC) Donovon 'DV' Hayles are anticipating a very exciting encounter when both schools clash in today's feature semi-final match of ISSA/ Gatorade/Digicel Walker Cup Knockout at the Constant Spring Sports Complex. The match is scheduled to start at 2:45 p.m. and will be preceded by the match-up between unbeaten Jamaica College (JC) and Excelsior at 12:45 p.m. Wolmer's, who have been one of the dominant forces in schoolboy football this season, will enter today's contest oozing confidence. The Heroes Circle-based school secured their place in the semi-finals with a come-from-behind 2-1 wins over defending champions St George's College. "The team is very confident that they can deliver on the day," said Bernard, who is a past student of KC. "We have the players who are capable of the delivering on the day, and I really don't expect them to come up short." Bernard added that will not be taking their opponents lightly because they are a good all-round unit. a very dangerous team "They are a very dangerous team and therefore we won't be taking them for granted because they are a never-say-die team," Bernard said. National junior representatives Jason Wright and Jaheel Hyde, who netted against St George's in the quarter-finals, will lead the Wolmer's attack. Both players are expected to receive good support from midfielders Jorghino James and Jason Greenland, while Kemo Wallace and Andre Wilson will marshall the defence. On the other hand, KC will also enter today's game on a high, after securing their place in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 win over the previously unbeaten Charlie Smith. "We are confident and comfortable," said Hayles. "The players have been giving their best, and as a coach that is all I can ask for at the moment." Striker Dorvil Jackson, who netted his team's winning goal against Charlie Smith, along with captain Allan Morgan and Jahvaughn Samuels will lead the North Street-based school charge to victory. JC should enter the curtain-raiser supremely confident, being the only team to progress to the semi-finals with a perfect record. They also got the better of Spanish Town 1-0 in the quarter-finals on Saturday "The players are in high spirits and they are ready for the challenge," said Delroy Brown, assistant coach of JC. "It is a knockout game and so there must be a winner, and so we just have go out there and make sure that we get the victory," he added. Meanwhile, the Leebert Halliman-coached Excelsior booked their place in the semis with 2-0 extra-time win over Bridgeport. "It is going to be a very difficult game for us," said Halliman. "We had a lot of injuries following our victory Bridgeport in the quarter-finals on Saturday. However, regardless of this, these boys are going to give it their best shot against JC."
