Campari Red Passion Tour kicks off
Sadeke Brooks, Staff Reporter

When the Campari Red Passion Tour kicked off at Club Privilege in New Kingston on Saturday, patrons seemed to thoroughly enjoy the music and free drink mixes.

Although it was a red-themed event, the colour was seen mostly in the décor, a few stilettos, outfits and one of the Campari mixes that patrons had no qualms about devouring.

In coming months, the tour will make its rounds in Ocho Rios and Mandeville, but on Saturday, Shantonia got the vibe going with popular songs like Vybz Kartel's Clark and Elephant Man's Dip Again. There was much 'daggering' when he played RDX's Bend Over at rocket-like speed with a bit of scratching.

ZJ Chrome kicked off his segment with rap and hip-hop songs. He was entertaining when he played DMX's Lose My Mind, while teasing with Popcaan's Head Bad. There was also some 'gun salutes' for songs like Vybz Kartel's My Scheme and Mavado's Brown Bottle. But there was a swift switch to more female-oriented songs Beenie Man's Back It Up and Tifa's Move Yuh Body.

Alternative songs were definitely a hit. Tracks like Rihanna's Diamonds, Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe and Nicki Minaj's Starships.

DJ Cyrus continued the trend with similar songs like Flo Rida's Good Feeling and LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem during which patrons did the 'shuffle'. Psy's Gangnam Style was also well received and had most persons dancing. Moving from one high-energy song to another, he played Knaan's Waving Flag, before delving into soca songs like Togetherness and Palance. After venturing into a few genres, he eventually returned to dancehall with Tommy Lee's Some Bwoy that caused the crowd to erupt.

Shantonio returned with songs like Aidonia's Caribbean Girl, Cham's Wine and Konshens' Gal A Bubble that caused some screams. After bringing the party to a high, there was somewhat of a lull with the crowd flat and unresponsive until he played Vybz Kartel's Freaky Gal.

Chrome returned later with hip hop and rap and had the patrons bouncing when THE STAR left at 3:15 a.m.
