|
Raymond Graham, Star Writer WITH most of the country's top senior netball players competing for college teams, there have been some outstanding results so far this season in the Intercol netball championships. G.C. Foster College, University of West Indies, University of Technology and defending champions The Mico University stayed on course for semi-final clashes later next month. All four teams continue to rake up impressive wins in the latest round of the competition. With several of the players down to compete for the Sunshine Girls in the FastNet competition in New Zealand early next month, they are intent on doing enough to ensure that their teams are in good position after they return from the FastNet competition. Both G.C. Foster College and Mico University made it three from three last week. With national players, Sasha Gaye Lynch and Shantel Slater in their line-up , the C Lloyd Walker-coached team, who are determined to get back on top after playing second fiddle to the likes of Mico and UWI the past three seasons, have two more victories. First they turned back Mico 'B' 36-15 on their home court, then later in the week, playing away, they put away Northern Caribbean Univer-sity (NCU) 54-11. With Kimone Tulloch and Vangalee Williams down to miss their team for some 10 days, both were impressive in their recent match as playing away at Montego Bay Community College court last Saturday they were too much for the home team as they scored a decisive 91-9 win. This was the second time the Marescaux Road-based team was scoring in the 90s, as in their first match of the season they humiliated Shortwood Teachers' College 95-6, then followed up that win with a 55-31 win over UWI "B. |
