Women plead not guilty to stabbing case

Three women accused of stabbing another female were hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday to answer to assault charges.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Shanel Magowan, Keisha Morrison and Latesha Williams.

All three ladies through their attorneys flatly denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.

The court was told that the complainant was on her way home and while walking she was attacked by six females who are all known to her.

Allegations are that the group immediately began stabbing the complainant multiple times over her body, which resulted in her lungs being injured.

The complainant told the court she was stabbed six times in the back, once in her shoulder and also the other in her chest.

The court also heard that the remaining three accused were on the run.

Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly-Williams after being advised by the defence attorneys, curiously expressed, "So nobody stabbed this woman then? ... I will need to see the medical report to see the extent of her injuries."

All three females were remanded after their bail applications were denied.

RM Shelly-Williams told the defence that she will continue hearing their applications on October 26.
