Two-time champs Bridgeport High advanced to the second round of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel Manning Cup after they defeated Tivoli on High School 3-1 in an away Group D game on Wednesday.

The Tyrone 'Fiddler' Roberts-coached Bridgeport, which jumped to 22 points with their latest win, got their goals through Nikoy Williams, Shaun Dewar, and Ramone Howell.

Calabar (20 points) joined Bridgeport in the next phase after they hammered Innswood 7-0. Third-place Innswood have 16 points and with one round remaining cannot surpass Calabar's tally.

Innswood's only chance of advancing to the next round is to win their last match and hope that they can cop one of two best third-place spots.

In the meantime, Bridgeport will end the preliminaries today with a home game against St Mary's College. A win will give them group honours.

Another local school, Greater Portmore (eight points), which has one of the youngest squad in this year's competition lost 4-0 to Excelsior High, and will not make the second round.

Excelsior, with 16 points, have advanced to the second round from Group A.
