Corporal on murder charge remanded |

|
Corporal Dwayne Smart who is charged with the murder of a pregnant woman in St Thomas in September was again remanded when he appeared in Home Circuit Court on Friday. The case involving Smart has been put off until November 2. He is charged for the September 1 shooting death of Kay-Ann Lamont. At that time all the relevant documents in the case are expected to be ready. Smart is facing the charges of murder, wounding with intent, assault, and illegal possession of a firearm. It is reported that Lamont and the policeman got into an altercation after he attempted to arrest her for using indecent language. During the scuffle, the pregnant woman was shot twice in the head, reportedly by the policeman. Her sister was also shot and injured in the incident. |
