A 30-year-old chef who is accused of chopping a man he allegedly caught next door with his estranged wife, was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is Ronald Davis, who was granted $200,000 bail with several strict conditions. The court heard that Davis allegedly chopped the man with a machete after he learnt that the complainant was at a neighbouring house with his estranged wife. Davis is to report to the Bull Bay police station every Wednesday between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., and surrender his travel documents. In addition, he should relocate from the Red Hills area and reside with his sister at a St Andrew address. He is to return to court on October 25, when the matter will be mentioned. Allegations are that on the day in question, the accused heard that his wife was next door with a new man. The court heard that the accused went to the neighbouring property and an argument developed, when a machete was used to inflict wounds to the complainant. It is reported that the injured complainant was rushed to hospital, where he was treated and released. Davis was subsequently arrested and charged with felonious wounding. In court yesterday, Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser gave Davis strict instructions to stay away from the
complainant and his estranged wife.
