Star Tell Me Pastor

Imprisoned because of my wife

Dear Pastor,

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus! I have been reading your coloumn since I was a little boy, but it never crossed my mind that one day I would be seeking your assistance.

I am a Jamaican but I am residing in the United States. I haven't abandoned my country, but I came to the States to seek a better life. My father was involved in a terrible accident, so I had to help him.

I left my wife in Jamaica and she was unfaithful to me and she has caused me to be in prison. The children were living with me in America, so for seven years I was a single parent working two jobs to support them. Family members watched over my children while I was at work.

Finally, my wife joined us in America. After she got here, she started acting strangely. She told me that she was only in America for a while. We were not having an intimate relationship, so we argued a lot. She told me that I could not tell her what to do because I didn't own her. She accused me of many things because she knew she was cheating on me in Jamaica.

Six months later, she had me arrested, and she became pregnant by another man. I cannot get any legal help to prove my innocence. I was charged for the most despicable and malicious crime that I did not commit. My wife coerced my children to lie on me and to give evidence against me, which caused me to be arrested. I am speaking the truth. Please! I need your immediate help!

May God bless you.

L.B.

Dear L.B.,

You have not stated the crime you are accused of committing, neither have you given any information about what your children were coerced to say against you. However, I gather that the case has not yet been tried. So what you need is an attorney, and I know that when someone is arrested and is not in a position to pay an attorney, the court assigns one to him.

I hope that you did not physically abuse your wife or the children. If your wife is indeed pregnant by another man, she has sent you a message that she is involved in another relationship and she is no longer interested in you. You have relatives in the United States of America, so you should appeal to them for help. Frankly, I am unable to help you.
