Claims people are trying to derail his progress

Controversial deejay LA Lewis has refuted the police's claims that he was manufacturing illegal drinks and added that he is the target of elements trying to derail his progress.

Lewis, when contacted by THE WEEKEND STAR, told our news team that the allegations against him were not factual. He said, "The drink nuh fake, it belongs to us cause we a deal wid the law ... Is a fruit drink we a do ... We drink new and it just come out on the market ... Our business registered."

Lewis said that since he and his team began manufacturing the product there has been much speculation.

Lewis reasoned, "The label is almost similar to one that is out there already ... Our juice a pick up and we send out some testing di oda day and get positive reactions so dem a try stop di ting."

He continued, "If something was fake we would be hiding and mi nah hide ... Di world know that LA Lewis illuminati and we nah break the law."

The entertainer wants his fans to know that everything will be justified in short order and that he has faith in the justice system and his legal representation.

Lewis told THE WEEKEND STAR that his legal team is headed by Hannah-Harris Barrington, attorney-at-law, human-rights' activist and solicitor.

Lewis, when asked by our news team how he thought these allegations could affect him moving forward, expressed, "This won't affect me in anyway ... They are trying to stop my drinks jus like how dem did fight Kartel and his rum, but dem climbing up the wrong bark."

The deejay also dismissed claims that his manufacturing plant was unsanitary.

He expressed to THE WEEKEND STAR, "My things always clean ... I'm illuminati. It's just an assassination on the product. I may dance on the edge of the law a little, but will never go against the law because mi a di queen pickney."

Meanwhile, LA Lewis and two other accused were formally charged yesterday with breaches of the Trademark and Copyright acts and will face the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on October 24 to answer to the charges.

Lewis' latest legal woes came about after members of the Organised Crime and Investigation Division, acting on intelligence, conducted raids at separate premises in the Corporate Area where the alleged illegal operation was being carried out. The raid reportedly uncovered an alleged fake fruit drink operation where the products were being sold to unsuspecting persons.
