Western Bureau: National Under-20 representative Alvas Powell took his goalscoring tally to nine with a treble, as Paul Bogle stretched their lead in Zone O of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition. Powell led the way, as his team triumphed 3-0 over Morant Bay for 17 points in their group and ahead of Seaforth, who defeated St Thomas Technical 2-0 in their encounter. It means that the Richard Williams-coached team is just shy one win away from the inter-zone round of the competition. Meanwhile, in Zone M, front-running Garvey Maceo remain in the lead with a 5-0 whipping of Porus. Garvey Maceo, who stopped rivals Glenmuir 1-0 in their previous match, last Saturday, got their goals from Marvin Francis, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute. The team had to wait a while longer for the floodgates to open and when it did, four other players got their names on the scoresheet. Owris Thompson in the 74th, Dillon Powell (78th), the impressive Ishmael Currie grabbed the fourth in minute 81 and Ryan Scott completed the rout. Rivals Glenmuir also posted a big win, defeating Bustamante 4-2. Clarendon College moved to 13 points with their 4-0 win over Claude McKay in Zone H, as Nico Taylor and Kyle Cummings scored two goals apiece in the win.
