The leadership at the top of the Red Stripe Premier League has once again changed hands after Boys' Town inflicted the first home defeat of the 2012 campaign on previous leaders Harbour View. The game's all-important goal was netted by former St George's College standout Marvin Morgan, in the 63rd minute, which saw his team jump to the top of the 12-team standings on 11 points. The loss saw the Stars of the East fall to third in standings with an inferior goal difference to now second-place Arnett Gardens, who have also amassed 10 points. Tivoli Gardens moved up one place following their first home win of the season when they saw off a late fight from winless Highgate United to triumph 3-1 at the Edward Seaga Complex. Dane Kelly, with his third goal in two matches, led the scoring for Tivoli, as he netted in the fifth and 18th minutes with Barrington Pryce (45+1), adding the home team's third. Highgate's consolation, which was only their second goal of the season, was scored in the 51st minute by Jerome Wedderburn. Defending champions Portmore United secured their second win of the season after clipping Montego Bay United 2-1 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex. Portmore's goals were scored by Adoah Nickle (40th) and Maurice Gordon (51st), with Orlando McBayne pulling back one for Montego Bay United in the 60th minute. The victory moved Portmore up two places to seventh, having amassed seven points. Montego Bay United, who are now being coached by Dean Weatherly following the resignation of Brazilian Neider dos Santos, were suffering their fourth defeat of the season, which left them lying 10th on three points. The match between sixth-place Savannah (10 points) and 11th-place Humble Lion, which was scheduled for yesterday at Frome Sports Complex, was not played due to persistent rain, accompanied by lightning. By virtue of having played on Monday night, eighth-place Cavalier, with six points, will travel to the Anthony Spaulding Complex today to meet Arnett Gardens at 6 p.m. Fourth-place Sporting Central, with 10 points will host ninth-place Waterhouse at Brancourt in a match set to start at 3:30 p.m.
