Sick baby dies in crash

Tragedy struck in St Ann yesterday after a three-year-old child was killed while being transported to the St Ann's Bay hospital.

Dead is Sachim Levers of Exchange in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the child fell ill around 1 a.m., and was being taken to the hospital for treatment when the vehicle in which he was being transported crashed into a tree.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle swerved to avoid colliding with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. He reportedly lost control of the car which ran across the road and crashed into a tree.

THE STAR understands that both the child and his father, who was also in the vehicle, sustained injuries. They were taken to hospital where the child was pronounced dead.

THE STAR further understands that an autopsy is to be done on the body of the child to determine if he died from injuries sustained during the accident.

The police are investigating.
