Woman pleads guilty to attempted drug smuggle
A 23-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to attempting to smuggle two pounds (900 grams) of ganja into Trinidad and Tobago in a bread was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Sedeasha Foreman, unemployed, pleaded guilty to possession of, dealing in, taking steps to export, and conspiracy to export ganja.

Foreman is to return to court on October 5 for sentencing.

Allegations are that through a routine check at the Norman Manley International Airport the accused luggage was searched.

It is alleged that during a search of the accused woman's luggage, a bread was examined and it was found to contain ganja.

Foreman told the court that she was given a trip to Trinidad and Tobago and was asked to carry a bread for the friend.

"Your Honour, I was unemployed and I was offered a trip by a friend to Trinidad and on my way to the airport, I was given a call to carry a bread for someone," Foreman explained in court.

The accused further told the court that because she was so excited about the trip, she wasn't suspicious of the bread.
