Savannah are the surprise leaders of the Red Stripe Premier League three games into the season, with a perfect nine points, after getting the better of fellow promoted team Cavalier 2-1 yesterday at Stadium East. Savannah, which hail from Truro district in Westmoreland and was formed in 2007, had lost both games to Cavalier in the play-offs and looked poised to suffer a similar fate, when the home team took the lead through captain Michael Stone in the 28th minute. The tide swung in the second half after Cavalier's Rasheedi Clarke committed his second bookable offence in the 50th minute, which aided in Savannah rallying through goals from Linval Wilson (60th) and Jessie Mayler (88th). Cavalier is currently ninth with three points. Arnett Gardens lie second with seven points after dropping their first points of the season, as they played to a 0-0 draw with 10th-place Highgate at Drax Hall Sports Complex. Sporting Central Academy occupy third position with six points, as they suffered their first defeat of the season going down 1-0 to Boys' Town at Collie Smith Drive. The game's all-important goal was scored in the 31st minute by Rafiek Thomas. The Red Brigade also have six points and are fourth on goal difference. Harbour View and Tivoli Gardens are sixth and seventh, respectively, with four points each, after playing to a 2-2 draw at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex. Veteran Jermaine Hue shone brightest for the Stars of the East, as he scored both of his team's goals in the 67th and 87th minutes, while Tivoli's Nicholas Scott (21st) and Davion Garrison (90+2) got on the scoresheet. Scott was ejected by referee Dwight Royal in the 53rd minute for serious foul play following his challenge on Eric Vernan Omando McLeod scored the game's lone goal in the 26th minute to give eighth-place Humble Lion a 1-0 win over Montego Bay United at the Effortville Community Centre. The win earned Humble Lion their first points of the season, while Montego Bay United occupy the spot at the foot of the table, as they are yet to garner a point having lost three consecutive games. Monday night football returns tonight, as 11th-place Portmore United seek to get their title defence on track, as they entertain fifth-place Waterhouse at Ferdie Neita Park in a match schedule to kick off at 9 p.m.
