Two-time champs, Bridgeport made a hot start in Group D in the ISSA Manning Cup Schoolboy football competition after they hammered Haile Selassie 6-0 at the Bridgeport High School field last Monday.

Bridgeport, conditioned by new coach, Tyrone 'Fiddler' Roberts, were led by a double strike from Shaquille Folks while there was a goal apiece from Timothy Kamaka, Shaun Dyer, Ramone Howell, and Rayon Swire. Other Portmore schools didn't fare so well in their encounters. Group E school, Ascot which advanced to the second round for the first time last year, drew 0-0 with St Catherine High; Waterford were edged 1-0 by Camperdown in group B; while Greater Portmore were beaten 6-1 by former champs Norman Manley.
