J'can strippers in Bahamas to appear in court today

Eight Jamaican strippers who were remanded in a Bahamian court on Monday for violating decency laws are to make another appearance in court today.

According to reports in the Nassau Guardian, the eight Jamaicans and a Bahamian national were arrested on September 7, at the Copacobana nightclub on West Bay.

It is reported that the women were dancing partially nude at the nightclub.

Those charged are: Tanelia Salmon, Cornelia Chambers, Latoya Depass, StacyAnn Andrews, Sabrina Scott, and Lamore Adams who pleaded guilty to the indecency charges.

Doreen Taylor and Colecia Peake are facing soliciting prostitution in addition to the indecency charges.

Taylor on Monday admitted the indecency charge but, reportedly denied the solicitation charge.

On Monday, the women were reportedly arraigned before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell.

The club owner, who was also dragged before the court, denied allowing the premises to be used for performing without using a licence.

The Jamaican women are also facing immigration violation charges.
