Andem recaptured

Christopher Andem, who escaped from police custody while at the St Ann's Bay Police lock-up on June 1, 2006, was recaptured last Friday, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching our news team is that Andem was held on September 7, in a section of Papine called Mud Town, Kingston 7, during a joint police/military operation.

At the time of his escape, Andem was awaiting trial for the murder of 48-year-old Panton Campbell, a farmer of Campbell Land district in Cave Valley, St Ann.

The crime was reportedly committed on June 25, 2005.

During the interview process with investigators, Christopher Andem gave his name as Joseph Thorpe, otherwise called 'Justin', but following further checks it was confirmed that he was Christopher Andem.

Christopher is the brother of Joel Andem, former reputed leader of the Gideon Warriors gang.

Joel Andem is currently serving time in prison.

Investigations continue.
