Blind man remanded again

Visually impaired Claude Pryce, who has been accused of collecting almost $2 million from a post office, was again remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Pryce, 28, from a St Andrew address, has been charged with conspiracy to defraud in connection with the problematic lottery scam.

The self-confessed homosexual Pryce, who is also known as 'Wendy', lost his sight following a 2009 incident in which his lover gouged out his eyes.

He is to return to court on September 27 for a case-management hearing.

It is reported that the police picked up Pryce during an operation on August 8 at the Constant Spring Post Office by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement team.

The accused was arrested after he allegedly collected money and cheques from the Constant Spring Post Office and FedEx, amounting to approximately $1.5 million.

The court heard that investigations are ongoing.

Pryce, who made an informal bail request, told the court, "I am finding it difficult to cope in lock-up because I am totally blind and I am being ridiculed and abused," he said.

However, Resident Magistrate Stephanie Jackson-Haisley told Pryce that she could not entertain his bail application.
