The exciting dancehall and reggae artiste Delly Ranx continued his re-emergence as a serious force in reggae music when he launched his latest album, The Next Chapter, in Toronto, this past weekend, in a champagne-swilling, feel-good soiree that attracted dancehall fans and music industry insiders.

Hosted by L3 Magazine and MYC Entertainment, Delly was surrounded by fans and industry movers and shakers who were treated to an intimate and interactive listen to the new album.

The 18-track disc was well received by fans as well as media. Most of the fans seemed to reserve their highest praise for the title track, The Next Chapter, which has already jumped on two charts. The single jumped to #18 on the HYPE TV Top 20 charts and is also climbing up the Top 10 of Richard Banton's Radio Dubplate charts.

Seasoned radio personality Ron Nelson commented on how impressed he is with Delly's new album saying, "it shows just how much Delly has grown as an artiste. He performs both reggae and dancehall with great skill. This album shows off his reggae versatility."

Other standout tracks on the album which got favourable nods include One Away Soldier, a tribute to Delly's incarcerated friend, Buju Banton, as well as Life After Lifetime which features living legend, Bunny Rugs from Third World.

The deejay performed at the launch, even though it wasn't planned, and said, "the vibe was so strong tonight I had to touch the stage - my way of thanking all the people who came out," said Delly Ranx, a.k.a the World General. "To see so many people support me and the album bring a joy to my heart and I'm thankful!"

In addition to Delly's performance, Toronto's Empress Minott, JLogix and Terminal DG performed. Delly Ranx is managed by David Smiley, a New York-based lawyer who has a serious jones for reggae music.

"I have been a fan of dancehall and reggae music for several years, and I believe that Delly has produced an amazing album that will resonate well with the reggae base in Europe because of the topics that he addresses and just the whole tone of the project which reflects where the artiste is on his life journey ... a lot of people are seeking a next chapter, and Delly is showing them the way," Smiley, who is also the chief executive officer of the Pure Music Group Jamaica, said.
