May Pen mechanic Dave Wilson and Llandilo policeman Gareth Robinson, are the first two monthly winners in the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) 50 Golden Keys savings promotion.

The Clarendon mechanic was the winner for the month of July, while Robinson, from Westmoreland, was the winner for August. Both men won television sets after making $5,000 minimum deposits in their JNBS' savings account.

"I was at the garage working when I got the call and was asked to complete the JNBS tag line," Wilson said, with a broad smile. "It was a pleasant surprise."

A member of the building society for just over a year, he pointed out that the prize came at a very good time, as he had been planning to buy a flat-screen television.

Robinson, a JNBS member for more than a decade, was equally surprised. He declared that, "It is a great feeling."

Leon Mitchell, JNBS' assistant general manager, group marketing, promotions & sales, said the next monthly draws are slated for September 17 and October 15, with the grand draw taking place on November 12. Prior to the grand prize drawing, members have a chance win 32-inch Singer high-definition televisions each month.

Mr Mitchell said the Golden Key promotion was inspired by the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Jamaica's Independence.

Launched in June and ending in October, it allows 50 existing and new members the opportunity to win the grand prize of $50,000 towards any savings goal, along with 10 per cent discount from Sangster's Bookstore on textbooks, general books and stationery, and up to 15 per cent discount from Singer on furniture, electronics and appliances.
