The 25-year-old woman accused of stealing a quantity of cash from prominent attorney Valerie Neita-Robertson had her bail offer reduced when she returned to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court on Thursday. She is Shaneka McKen from Harbour View, St Andrew. Previously, McKen was granted $500,000 however RM Lorna Shelly-Williams reduced the offer to $300,000 after the court was informed that the accused was unable to take up the offer. McKen is to return to court on September 11, for plea and case management. Allegations are that the accused woman told the attorney that she wanted $520,000 to assist her with finding a job in Canada. The court heard that she agreed to repay the attorney once she received employment. It is alleged that the lawyer then transferred the money to the woman's account but later discovered that the money had been transferred to a debit account and used for other purposes. The matter was reported to the police and the woman was arrested.
