Digicel Stars - Team R & B: D Major says 'Big Mamma' destined for greatness

She is the last one standing on 'Team R&B', but that has not deterred contestant Golda Watson. Nicknamed 'Big Mamma' by her mentor D Major, the 39-year-old Cabaret singer says she is destined for greatness.

Watson, who describes herself as a humble, quiet but fun-loving person, told THE STAR that after seeing the ad on television, she immediately auditioned for the show and has not looked back since.

'I saw the ad on TV so I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper and I called and did the audition. I didn't really understand about the teams at that time, but so far it's been fun, I'm having fun," she said.

Describing her mentor D Major as a 'brother', Watson said he has inspired her to take up new challenges.

"He's a fun-loving person, he's like a brother to me. He likes when I take up challenges because I'm always trying to run away from songs with the high notes, but he motivates me and tells me that nothing comes easy. He pushes me to be on top," she told THE STAR.

Like most of the other contestants, the campaigning aspect of the competition has been hard, Watson believes that 'nothing comes easy', so she has resolved to push on.

Watson believes that she has the 'wow effect' to make it to the very end off the competition.

"The first thing I'd do if I won is to put a roof over my head. I'd also contribute some of the money to furthering my music career,' she said.
