Jamaican gunned down in Philadelphia

Police in West Oak, Philadelphia, are investigating the fatal shooting of a 36-year-old Jamaican on Tuesday afternoon, THE STAR has learnt.

According to reports from www.6abc.com, the shooting occurred at 3 p.m. in the 7400 block of Limekiln Pike.

Police say the man was shot and killed outside a place called Flat, a popular Jamaican restaurant and speakeasy.

THE STAR gathered information that witnesses heard multiple gunshots coming from the rear of the parking lot.

According to police reports, witnesses saw three men running from the area, however, their identities and whereabouts are unknown.

The victim's identity has not been released pending further investigation.

Residents from the area theorise he was a Jamaican immigrant who had recently returned from a trip to the island.

When the homicide detectives arrived, they found a 36-year-old man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Residents reportedly said there have been a number of shootings at this particular location over the years, some of them deadly.
