Over the last two months dancehall artistes have begun to make moves to develop unity among recording artistes.

Spearheading the movement are Esco, formerly of the Leftside and Esco duo, and Alliance's Wayne Marshall.

Both recording artistes have released productions featuring several dancehall acts deejaying on the same rhythm. The recordings reflect a tag team showcase as each artiste delivers his lyrics on a specific topic and passes it on to the other to share their opinion, a method normally practised by DJ Khalid in his collaborative productions.

According to Wayne Marshall, who called his production Go Hard, he has always aimed to mend the bridges in dancehall.

"Mi always a try to be the one to mend the bridges instead of burning them down. Most of the artistes have history together and we wanted to just get some bad artistes and get them to collaborate ... the concept is to unify the deejays," Marshall said.

Vybz Kartel is also featured in the song and Wayne Marshall expressed that he and Kartel buried their hatchet before the controversial deejay went to jail.

"Addi did reach out to mi after people thought that we would never be friends again. But we knew each other before fame and popularity so we were able to get past our differences, and we mended certain things before he went away," Marshall said.

The song was produced by Wayne Marshall, Teetimus and Baby G and according to Marshall, the diaspora loves the unity and the concept.

Esco called his production The Haters Warning, and he too expressed that it was a positive move in trying to get unity among dancehall artistes.

"It was good getting the artistes to participate in the production. The artistes were humble and had good work ethic so it was just a matter of getting the studio time sorted out. Unity is extremely good for dancehall. Artistes and producers could try a little more unity and that would definitely improve the industry," Esco said.

The Haters Warning produced by Esco's Tall King Production features Bounty Killer, Esco, Chino McGregor, Bramma, Ward 21, Chan Dizzy, Rholinx and also presents a cameo from Sean Paul.

Wayne Marshall's Go Hard features Bounty Killer, Aidonia, Vybz Kartel, Damian Marley, Wayne Marshall, Assassin and I-Octane.

Wayne Marshall is currently working on a new album and also hinted at a part two for Go Hard which he says may feature international artiste.

"We might just go across the waters for the follow-up. This is what we need instead of war and friction," he said.
