Bolt needs new goals

Usain Bolt

Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt has once again hinted that there could be a change of discipline in his future, as he looks towards the Brazil 2014 Games.

The world's fastest man had expressed some doubt regarding his participation at the Rio showpiece, which will take place in four years' time. Bolt, after emulating his performance in Beijing four years ago in London, a few weeks ago, the sprinter admitted to being uncertain about the future and a possible target. It seems, however, that the sprinter is now a bit more certain. While admitting that he is likely to be past his prime at the next Olympic Games, in which the sprinter will turn 30 years old, he will certainly compete.

"Yes, definitely I will be there (in Rio), as long as I'm fit and I'm ready," Bolt told Reuters ahead of today's Lausanne meet.

"It'll be a little bit harder but I'm looking forward to it.

"It's just about making different goals, there's a lot of things I can do in the sport," Bolt said.

Bolt, who is known as a capable 400m sprinter, boasting a respectable personal best of 45.28, has flirted with the idea of running the event at the top level and insists it could still be a possibility in the future.

"My coach wants me to do 400 metres; I want to try long jump."

Bolt, who holds the world record for the 100m sprint (9.58), 200m (19.19) and anchored Jamaica to a new world record in the men's 4x100 relay in London (36.84), admits that setting new records in the sprints could also serve as motivation.

"I could always try to aim for the records again, so there's different things, but after the season we'll decide what we want to do and work on that next season."
