Blockmaker accused of theft gets bail

Fifty-thousand dollars bail was yesterday granted to a St Andrew blockmaker who has been accused of stealing several pieces of furniture from a man's home.

Charged with housebreaking, larceny and receiving stolen property is Garth Johnson.

Johnson pleaded not guilty in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

He is to return to court on September 4, when the matter will be mentioned.

Allegations are that on August 13, the complainant's home was broken into and several items removed.

The court heard that on the same date of the incident, the police acted on information and found the accused with the items that were reportedly stolen from the complainant.

It is alleged that the accused was found with the complainant's wooden-door, and other furniture items.

Johnson was subsequently arrested and charged.

As a condition of his bail, Johnson is to report to the Bull Bay Police Station on Wednesdays between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

In addition, the resident magistrate also ordered a curfew between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for the accused.
