Jamaican charged with attempted murder

A Jamaican national who allegedly shot and injured a man in Antigua last week has been charged with attempted murder.

According to a report in the Antigua Observer, 32-year-old security officer Corwayne Charles Campbell of Martin Village was arrested and charged last Thursday.

It is alleged that sometime in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, the Jamaican shot one of his co-workers in the neck.

Reports from the police are that the two men were involved in a dispute at a restaurant and bar in Dickenson Bay.

During the dispute, Campbell allegedly used a firearm to wound his co-worker.

The injured man, THE STAR understands, was rushed to the Mount St John's Centre by the Emergency Medical Services, where doctors reported that his injuries were not life-threatening.

He has since undergone surgery, and is reported to be in stable condition.
