Rasbert Turner, Star Writer A St Ann resident who allegedly was caught driving a car that was stolen in another parish was granted $100,000 bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday. George Nesbeth, 47, was ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the Moneague Police Station on Wednesday and Saturday. An attorney-at-law told the court that his client sold jerk chicken for a living, however, he was offered a job to drive a taxi. Portmore On March 17, the Toyota Corolla motor car was stolen in Portmore, St Catherine. In July, the complainant was standing on Main Street in Ocho Rios, St Ann, when he spotted the car. A call was made to the Moneague police and a team went to a taxi stand. When Nesbeth was checked for the relevant documents, he told them he had none. He was arrested and further investigations resulted in his being charged with receiving stolen property. He is to reappear in court on November 20 when the matter will again be mentioned. |
