Khago shows performance versatility

Downsound recording artiste Khago showed his great versatility as a performing artiste during the recent West Indian Independence Celebration show in Hartford, Connecticut, over the weekend.

The annual parade started atNelson Street in Hartford before ending at Bushnell Park with a live concert headlined by Khago.

Standing in front of an audience of thousands, he re-engineered his set to deliver a 10-minute medley of reggae songs that included songs such as Daddy From Yu Gone, Love Stomach, Take Me As I Am and If I Knew Then, that fit perfectly with the family vibe of the annual event.

Teeny-boppers

Later, he changed gears smoothly to cater to the teeny-boppers in the crowd as his Dancehall material such as Nah Sell Out 1 and 2 were met with major forwards. He also performed Blood A Boil and his latest stateside hit, Pretty Wine, on the Chase Millz Records label.

He invited three girls, two Caucasians and one Latina, onstage to demonstrate their best 'pretty wine'. The girls' individual 'pretty wine' contortions had the audience in stitches. During his set, he also made mention of his celebrated feuds with artistes such as I-Octane, Assassin and Sizzla, and with the expert selection of songs, had the audience enraptured by his performance.

Earlier this month, he performed on the Montego Bay Jerkfest alongside artistes such as Jahvinci, Konshens and others. He also did a show in the Jungle nightclub in Negril on August 6, and this weekend, he has showsin New Jersey on August 17 and the Montreal International Reggae Festival on August 18 in Canada.

"From Downsound tek over the ting, Khago career ah shot, every week, mi a fly out," he said.

The deejay released a new pop-flavoured single called Green Light earlier this week, and a one-drop song Cry Myself To Sleep.
