After months of gruelling eliminations, the Miss Teen Portmore pageant will have its grand coronation show on Sunday.

So many were the entries for the competition, attractive and intelligent were the entrants and hectic was the elimination process and courtesy calls, that the promoter had no choice but to leave the field of contestants at an astonishing 33 girls.

This is the first time, in the competition's many years, that more than 30 contestants have been left for the grand coronation show, which will be held atop the roof of the Portmore Pines Plaza, Portmore, St Catherine, at 7 p.m.

The 33 girls will parade in evening gowns designed by Carol Boutique and introduction outfits provided by Maxie Department Store.

Damian Crawford, minister of state in the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment and Ed Bartlett, opposition spokesman on Tourism and Travel Service Development, will be special guests for this year's staging.

The Miss Teen Portmore Pageant started in 2003 and is promoted by Octron Promotions, which has a track record as one of the top organisers in the pageant industry in Jamaica.

Octron has been commended by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and Member of Parliament Olivia Grange for organising pageants for the upliftment of young women, along with provision of jobs in the Portmore area.

Numerous girls have achieved scholarships and bursary to universities and back to school assistance as a result of the pageant.
