Spice releases new single, video

Dancehall artiste Spice has released a new single and accompanying video called The Holiday.

The song, which was released last week, was done as a tribute to the exciting year-long Jamaica 50 celebrations.

The Holiday, which was done on theOvertime rhythm and produced by JA Productions, with the video was directed by Streets, is a colourful display of Jamaica's beautiful hot spots, beaches, and people. In addition, the single is catchy with its reminiscent Fresh Prince of Bel-Air lyrics.

Something fresh

Spice said: "We wanted to do something that was fresh, funny, but also something that persons could relate to, both in the lyrical flow where I fused dancehall deejaying with the early way of rapping, which originated from dancehall in Jamaica. In addition, we wanted to feature some great places like Dolphin Cove, Faith's Pen, and so forth. Jamaica 50 is a significant landmark for all of us. Despite the problems that the country has, we definitely have a lot to be happy and proud about. So this was my way of doing that."

Spice is known for her hits spanning more than a decade, which include Fight Over Man;Ramping Shop, featuring Vybz Kartel; Jim Screechie;Fun, featuring Missy Elliot; Take Him Out, featuring Mya; Hot Patty Wine; andDear Honourable (A Letter To Portia).
