J'can implicated in bank robbery held
A Jamaican who has been implicated in a bank robbery in the Cayman Islands has been held by the police.

Information reaching THE STAR is that 36-year-old Ryan Edwards from Seaforth, St Thomas, is now awaiting extradition.

Reports from the police are that Edwards and another man were held on Saturday in Lyssons, St Thomas.

According to the police, the men were in a parked Toyota Altis motor car on the Lyssons main road when they were accosted.

A search of the vehicle was carried out and a large sum of cash, including US$5,000 (J$45,000) and KYD$35,000 (J$3,805,200) was allegedly found.

Investigators subsequently made checks with the Royal Caymanian police who revealed that several of the notes found in Edwards' possession matched notes stolen during a robbery at the Cayman Nation Bank, back in June.

It was also revealed that Edwards was wanted in connection with the robbery.

THE STAR understands that the other man who taken into custody was questioned and released.
