The dead man has been identified as Bentley Parker from the community.

The incident reportedly happened on August 7.

THE STAR understands that following investigations, the teen (Oshane Burchell) was picked up on the weekend and placed on an identification parade.

He was subsequently charged with murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

It is alleged that on the day in question the deceased was walking in the community when explosions were heard.

Residents later found him suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
