Police constable remanded

The police constable implicated in the racketeering of police vehicles for sale was remanded until September 4 when the matter will again be mentioned.

Constable Howard Morris, who was recently charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence, appeared before the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The cop is accused of collecting money from an undetermined amount of persons within the general public, for the sale of police vehicles, which he was subsequently unable to deliver.

Morris was arrested during an operation by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Saturday, August 4, 2012.

Officer in charge of the Anti-Corruption Branch, Senior Superintendent Selvin Hay, is appealing to persons who have paid over money to policemen for the sale of service vehicles to contact the ACB at 926-9579.
