44-y-o charged for rape, buggery

A 44-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years for rape when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court recently.

Colin Manragh was before the courts on charges of rape, buggery and illegal possession of firearm stemming from an incident in 2008. The incident involved an 11-year-old child.

When Manragh appeared in court on July 30, he was sentenced to 15 years for rape and two years for buggery, but was acquitted of the charge of illegal possession of firearm.

Our news team was advised the sentence will run concurrently.

Meanwhile, investigators from the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, who had arrested and charged Manragh, are advising the public to report cases of abuse at 926-6538, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
