Three divas strike a pose.

The continuous rain caused from Tropical Storm Ernesto did not deter the 'Chugites' in western Jamaica from what has become Jamaica's most anticipated beach party series event, Rumbar Chug It, at Negril Beach Park, in Westmoreland, recently.

"Eager patrons showed up as early as 10 a.m. and stood in the rain, insisting that they have to get in the event, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., by whatever means possible as they have been waiting for the event to reach Negril for many months," said Andrew French, the main promoter.

When the gate was opened, anxious fans quickly made their way in as the rain drenched them. The rain continued for another two hours as the queues at the entrance began to extend significantly.

The venue was almost filled to capacity at 5:45 p.m and the jubilant crowd could be seen dancing up a storm to music by Chromatic, Tippy, DJ Blue and Hyperactive, as they drank all they could for only $1,000.

huge support

The organisers must have anticipated this huge support as it was evident in the increased numbers of bars and bartenders. A wide variety of rum, vodka, beers, stout, rum cream, juice, soda among others were accessible at every bar.

The patrons were gyrating and drinking up a frenzy from as early as 7:30 p.m. Loud shouts of approvals came from patrons from other parishes such as Kingston, St Thomas, St James, St Catherine, St Elizabeth and Manchester when the DJs acknowledged the presence of 'Chugites' from these parishes.

Despite the evident large number of supporters, the liquor kept coming as if the distributors had a branch at the venue.

"This is the best thing that has ever happened to Jamaica," shouted a woman carrying two cups of liquor.

"Mi wah chug it all day, every day," was the response from another as she grabbed the waist of a media rep and started to gyrate. About 10 p.m., the DJ thanked everyone for coming and advised them to drive safely.
