Portmore man arrested for ganja |

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer The Browns Hall police in St Catherine have arrested and charged a man who was reportedly caught with a quantity of ganja weighing approximately 90 pounds (40.91 kilograms) on Friday. Reports are that about noon, police personnel were conducting a spot check when they stopped a car allegedly being driven by Tafari Pitts, 34-year-old labourer, of Portmore, St Catherine. A search revealed several packages of compressed ganja wrapped in cellophane. The Starwas informed that the drug was destined for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is charged with possession of, dealing in, trafficking of ganja and conspiracy. Pitts is booked to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow. Meanwhile, the police told The Star that this is the third major drug haul since the start of the month. |
