![]() Rodolph Austin National midfielder Rodolph Austin is set for a move to the English Championship next season. A report on the sports website, sportinglife.com, revealed yesterday that the 27-year-old Reggae Boy is set to hold talks on personal terms with Leeds United after his Norwegian Premier League club, SK Brann, accepted an offer for the Jamaica international midfielder. The fee was not made public but it is rumoured to be in the region of £300,000. According to the sportinglife report, Leeds manager, Neil Warnock, stated last week that talks were ongoing regarding a deal for Austin, who is out of contract at the end of the year. Warnock is a long-term admirer of Austin after taking him on trial during his time at Queens Park Rangers. Brann confirmed a fee was agreed between the two clubs on Sunday night and Austin is due to travel to England to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical. "We agreed with Leeds on the conditions for a transfer on Sunday night," Brann's sporting director Rolf Magne Walstad told the club's official website. "There has been the calculation for us where we had to measure Rudy's value and the financial side of such a transfer, and we also believe that the player deserves the chance to move to Leeds now. "Negotiations have been slow, partly because the distance between what Leeds would pay for the player and what Brann wanted to get was great, and partly because we had the desire to keep Rudy at Brann for as long as possible. "Rudy has given a wonderful effort for Brann for several seasons and we think it is right that he should have this opportunity now. "Since this interest became known, it was clear that he wanted to continue his career in England if the clubs agreed a transfer."
Austin who has played 48 times for Jamaica, began his professional football career at Portmore United in 2005, where he won two premier league titles. He went on loan to Brann in 2008 before getting a three-year deal in 2009. In all he has made 90 appearances and scored 15 goals for the Norwegian club.
