Eighteen months is the mandatory prison term that Richard Henry will have to serve for importing over two pounds of cocaine into the island from Curacao recently.

Henry pleaded guilty in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to possession of, dealing in, and importing cocaine.

The conspiracy to import cocaine charge was dropped as no evidence was offered.

It is reported that on July 9, Henry, an entertainer, from Lionel Town in Clarendon, imported two pounds and two ounces (one kilogram) of cocaine into the island and was nabbed at the Norman Manley International Airport.

The court heard that he had ingested 98 pellets of the illegal substance.

Henry was fined $50,000 or three months for possession of, $100,000 or six months for dealing in and 18 months in prison for importing cocaine.
